Located northwest of Cortez, Colorado, the Canyons of the Ancients National Monument is a World Heritage Site.


The park headquarters is located at the Anasazi Heritage Center near Dolores, and it provides visitor information, maps, and advice to travelers.


Just behind the headquarters is a great hike up to the top of a hill with magnificent views of the mountains in Colorado and Utah. You can also visit the Escalante Pueblo, located at the top of the hill behind the visitor center. The hike is also dog-friendly!
