It's been nearly two weeks since 7-year-old Kayden Gavarrete was found dead inside his near southwest Indianapolis home.

The boy's father, 26-year-old Kevin Gavarrete, and his girlfriend, 20-year-old Julia Sizemore, are accused of beating, starving and locking him away in a bedroom.

According to court documents in May 2024, Kayden weighed about 48 pounds, but by the time of his death, he weighed 32 pounds.

Kayden was pronounced dead Dec. 22 in the 1300 block of South Pershing Avenue, near West Morris Street and South Belmont Avenue.
