Leo Tadagawa has been an advocate, promoter and supporter of the traditional players of the Aino people from the North Island. Their particular instrument is made of bamboo, the tongue being activated by a sting-pull action, a technique that is found in many parts of Asia.

Leo: “So now I will play a bamboo jews-harp called a Mukkuri from the Aino people.” Plays a Mukkuri.
