DSMX/DSM2 Receiver with AS3X and Brushless Control from AliExpress.

Follow-up edit: I mounted the receiver in a small plane and found it DOES have a SAFE mode as well as a form of AS3X. My TX only has a 2-position gear switch so I was not able to check for 3 modes.

AliExpress is selling a clone of the Eflite 1S receivers with AS3X anti-gust stability, but adds the ability to control an external brushless ESC. Eflite micro receivers lost the external ESC control ability when AS3X was added to them several years ago.

While I have been making 1S planes with AS3X and brushless motors for awhile now, they all involve mixing throttle to channel 6 in the transmitter programming to function. With this brick the receiver should be able to control brushless motors while bound to ANY 4-channel DSMX or DSM2 transmitter with no special programming.

There is a trade-off thought. To fit the external ESC code on the brick they had to sacrifice programmability for different brick mounting orientations.

As such, the receiver has to be mounted in a specific orientation just as the SAFE mode bricks do. In this case it must be installed vertically, just as it is mounted on the AS3Xtra indoor 3D plane.


I have included a diagram in the video displaying the required mounting orientation and the pin-outs for brushed motor output or external ESC control signal output. The modes are selected via the transmitter stick positions just like the no-gyro Eflite receivers (throttle full/left rudder). The mode selection process is demonstrated in the video.

This receiver may have potential. I will be using it in a future aircraft build, so watch for it. Happy flying!
