The NIO EP9 is an all-electric hypercar developed by Chinese automaker NIO and first unveiled in 2016 as a showcase of the brand’s advanced EV and motorsport technology. Built around a full carbon fiber monocoque chassis and body, the EP9 is engineered for extreme aerodynamic efficiency and structural rigidity, featuring an aggressive active aero system with an adjustable rear wing and movable front splitter to generate massive downforce at high speeds. The car rides on a pushrod suspension setup with adjustable dampers, and it uses a lightweight construction that keeps overall weight to approximately 1,735 kg, remarkable considering its battery-electric layout and four-motor drivetrain.

Power comes from four inboard electric motors, one at each wheel, delivering a combined output of 1 megawatt (1,360 hp) and 1,480 Nm of torque. This advanced all-wheel-drive system enables precise torque vectoring for exceptional cornering performance and stability at track speeds. The EP9 accelerates from 0–100 km/h in around 2.7 seconds, 0–200 km/h in approximately 7.1 seconds, and 0–300 km/h in about 15.9 seconds, with a top speed of 313 km/h. Its high-capacity battery system is designed for both rapid swapping and fast charging, allowing the battery pack to be replaced in roughly 8 minutes, emphasizing its track-focused usability and engineering innovation.

Inside, the EP9 is purpose-built with a minimalist racing cockpit, featuring two lightweight bucket seats, a multi-function racing steering wheel with integrated controls, and a digital display providing real-time telemetry data. Safety and performance are enhanced by a full roll cage integrated into the carbon tub and advanced braking systems with carbon-ceramic discs. The EP9 has set multiple lap records for electric production cars, including a notable performance at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, reinforcing its status as one of the most technologically advanced and fastest electric hypercars ever produced.
