Описание к видео Coordinate Geometry: YOU Must Know These Essentials – GRE / GMAT Quant with Official Guide Questions

This video will cover five of the most essential coordinate geometry topics that come up in the GRE and GMAT, from Quadrants and slopes, to x-intercepts and perpendicular lines, this video has so much for you – whether you are just starting with this topic or consider yourself quite adept.

First, I start off easy and show how Quadrants I – IV go anticlockwise from top right.

Then I show the y-axis, x-axis and origin.

I will then cover how to use the famous y = mx + b (or sometimes called y = mx + c) equation.

Then I will discuss how the slope = m = rise/run = y2 – y1/x2 – x1
And how the y-intercept = b = where the line crosses the vertical axis.

We will find the equation of a line: y = 3/4x – 3/2
You might also see this written as 4y – 3x + 6 = 0
This is called the ax + by + c = 0 version of the line.

The x-intercept = where line crosses x axis = when y is 0

Parallel and perpendicular lines: If the slopes are the same, the lines are parallel. If the slopes are the negative reciprocal of one another, then they are perpendicular slopes.

Which of the following lines are either parallel OR perpendicular to the line 4y – 3x + 6 = 0?
Tick all that apply.

y = 4/3x + 5
y = -4/3x + 6 (perp)
4y + 5 = 3x (parallel)
4x + 3y + 4 = 0 (perp)
4x – 3y + 5 = 0

Finally, I put this together in a question with multiple parts to test your knowledge.

GRE and GMAT are two of most used graduate exams for those seeking to study a Masters Degree or Masters in Business Administration (MBA) degree. The Graduate Record Exam and Graduate Management Admissions Test have been taken for over 50 years and are taken by approximately 600,000 and 300,000 people worldwide annually, respectively. These exams are typically taken between the ages of 18-40, by those who have completed, or are about to complete, their Bachelors Degree.

She was admitted into Harvard Business School, The Wharton School of Business, and Columbia Business School (accepted into every school she interviewed for) after graduating from UCLA with a degree in Communication. She also got 3 perfect scores on the GRE’s Analytical Writing Assessment (99th percentile).
