Vicki Graham started Brock and I visiting Summerset Village in Taupo some years ago, as we have a holiday home there, so I went every two weeks. Then my dad became a resident at St John's Wood and I chose to change and visit there.

After dad's death there I struggled a bit to take Brock back or even go there, But the pleasure that the residents got from Brocks visit pushed me to continue visiting & I visit every two weeks where possible.\

Sometimes I think I can't be bothered and then about eight weeks ago one of the nurses asked one of the residents, Peter, would he like me to bring Brock into his room? Did he like dogs? Yes was his reply we had a lovely chat. He was just lovely and had a suffered a stroke and was a fairly new resident, we had a lovely visit, and when I came out, the staff said thank you so much for bringing Brock to visit that's the most Peter has talked since he's been here.

And I felt what's an hour every two weeks out of my time to give someone a lot of pleasure that's stuck in a rest home, not by choice.

Taumarunui has a rest home AVONLEA ( & I visit occasionally), I had decided pre-lockdown that I was going to visit every week in between my visits to Taupo. There are so many people I know locally being my hometown but am unsure when this will recommence!!!!

Brock is an adorable gentle golden retriever, and everyone that meets him says the same.
To be fair, I think this is definitely the nature of the breed.
