In this video I show you my strategy in mining high gravity planets. I do a quick overview of the ships I've modified, and how they work together. The CV combined with the HV is, so far, the best & safest option I've found.

The floor of the mining area of the CV is made of sliding doors, which is linked to the Mining Hatch switch you see. HV mining drills will work through the force field seal that door provides.
