Описание к видео Ulcerative Colitis and Liver Transplant | Dan's Story

Over 10 years ago, Dan was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. As his condition worsened, visits to his local gastroenterologist increased from monthly to weekly. Dan’s health continued to deteriorate, and he was referred to Penn Medicine where he learned he had primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) and would need a liver transplant.

Living in New York City, Dan did extensive research on hospitals to determine the best program, the one with the most experience and best outcomes. His research him led him right back to Penn Medicine.

He found that Penn Medicine is:

-The largest, most experienced liver transplant center in the region
-#1 in volume of liver transplants performed; more than 2,500 to date
-Consistently meeting or exceeding national survival averages for both living donor liver and deceased donor liver transplants
-Dedicated to entire patient journey and lifelong care before, during and following transplant
-The only team in the region actively performing living liver transplants in addition to deceased donor transplant option
-The leader for clinical trials and research opportunities in liver transplantation

Dan explains how the uncertainty and fear of what he faced was managed with the incredible support of his family, and his medical team – a team in whom he had great confidence. Now, he is taking full advantage of his life post-transplant, thriving with the continued support of the Penn Transplant team.
