Carl Weathers' Life:

Carl Weathers was born on January 14, 1948, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was an eighth-grade student when he earned an athletic scholarship to St. Augustine High School, a private school1. Carl was an all-around athlete, involved in boxing, football, gymnastics, judo, soccer, and wrestling. He played football and graduated from Long Beach Poly High School in 19661.

Carl attended Long Beach City College in 1966, but an ankle injury prevented him from playing that year. He transferred to San Diego State University, where he played as a defensive end for the San Diego State Aztecs1. Carl helped the Aztecs win the 1969 Pasadena Bowl, finishing with an 11-0 record and a No. 18 ranking in the Final UPI Poll1.

After college, Carl joined the Oakland Raiders of the NFL in 1970 but was released after two seasons. He then played for the BC Lions in the CFL before retiring from football in 1974 to pursue acting2. Carl's big break came in 1976 when he was cast as Apollo Creed in the blockbuster film "Rocky." He reprised the role in three more "Rocky" films, and the character's adversarial relationship with Rocky Balboa evolved into a warm friendship2.

Carl also appeared in other notable films such as "Predator" (1987), "Happy Gilmore" (1996), and voiced Omnitraxus Prime in "Star vs. the Forces of Evil" (2017-2019). He had a recurring role as Greef Karga in "The Mandalorian" (2019-2023), for which he was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award1.

Carl Weathers passed away on February 2, 2024, in Los Angeles, California, leaving behind a legacy of memorable performances.
