Descent - Gameplay [HD]

Описание к видео Descent - Gameplay [HD]

Descent is a first person action game made by Parallax Software and published by Interplay. It was released in 1994.

It came out for the following platforms: DOS, Mac OS, Acorn Archimedes, WiiWare and PlayStation

Note:I played this with Descent Rebirth Source Port. http://www.dxx-rebirth.com/

Even though Descent can be considered as a first person shooter it plays quite a bit different than a normal FPS because here you don't run around on foot but instead take control of some advanced futuristic spacecraft.

In Descent there is no left or right or up and down (well maybe an upside down :P ) your spacecraft can fly in any direction at any time and even rotate around. So what was the ceiling before could now be the floor or the floor could now be a wall to the left. This is quite cool but can also be a problem at the same time because you can lose orientation very quick if you don't know what you are doing. And if you have problems with motion sickness then you eventually want to avoid this game altogether ^^

The levels or missions in Descent all take place within some mining facilities. The first few levels are quite small and easy to navigate through but that quickly changes further into the game. Soon you will find yourself flying around aimlessly and trying to find the next keycard or exit point. There is a 3D-Wireframe Map you can open at any time but that thing will soon be filled with so many lines that you can't see where one tunnel ends and the other begins :D

Goal in every mission is to either destroy a generator or some giant boss robot. Whatever of the two is the case, after you destroyed them the self destrucion seqence will be activated and you only got 40 seconds to reach the mine exit (so you may want to check out where it is before destryoing the generator/boss)

Descent also has multiplayer and coop. You can play the entire campaign with up to 4 players. So if you got a bad sense of direction you can bring your friends aboard. Remember 4 brains are better than one! ;)
