In this episode, we examine the case S v Goliath (SS64/98), decided on 15 December 1998 by the Western Cape High Court. Vincent James Goliath sought leave to appeal his convictions for assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, common assault, and the murder of Delia Jacobs.

The court dismissed the application, holding that there was no reasonable prospect of another court reaching a different outcome. The assault conviction was supported by direct and corroborative evidence, while the murder conviction rested on a strong chain of circumstantial evidence even in the face of efforts to conceal the true cause of death.
