One of the anti cult conference highlights for me was the international premiere of "Witness Underground," a powerful documentary exploring the experiences of former Jehovah's Witnesses who deprogrammed themselves through self-education and the power of self-expression and music creation to allow themselves to do free thinking. I was invited to speak on a panel called "Rock the Watchtower" hosted by Radio New Zealand investigative reporter Anusha Bradley along with Activists Lara Kaput and Shayne Mechen.
Represented groups:
government officials and skeptics, cult experts, human rights activists and advocates, mental health care workers, therapists, psychologists, psychotherapists, medical doctors, human & sex trafficking advocates, activists of all kinds, journalists - radio & print media, podcast, lawyers, members of parliament, film directors, and satire artist/musicians.
The Decult conference, organized by journalist and author of Cult Trip, Anke Richter, aimed to create a unique opportunity for mental health professionals, government officials, suvivors and the general public to come together and present our perspectives and to better understand and prevent cultic harm through professional anti cultism.

Witness Underground had it's international premiere at Decult. It's both a christian music rockumentary and an unprecedented cult documentary 2024. It explores the cult indie music culture that flourished within the Jehovah's Witnesses community, showcasing how art and music can be powerful tools for religious deconstruction. The Decult Cult Awareness Conference offered a rare opportunity for former cult members like myself to share our experiences and insights. Through panel discussions and former cult member interviews, we were able to shed light on the challenges of leaving cults and the journey of rebuilding one's identity outside of a restrictive belief system.
