In a flashback we see Navy Nurse Ellen ( Young ) meeting George Jones ( Sullivan ) in hospital during World War II, who is a friend of Doctor Grahame ( Cowling ) whom she is dating. The doctor has little time to devote to her and she falls for and marries George. They now live in Los Angeles and George is mostly bed-ridden due to a heart condition. George is angered over Ellen's desire for children. He writes a letter to the D.A. accusing her and his friend Dr. Grahame of poisoning him. George's sadistic personality soon emerges. George is about to shoot Ellen over the letter, and he drops dead of a heart attack. Ellen spends a great deal of time trying to keep others from seeing George, his aunt Clara ( Gillmore ), a notary public ( Haggerty ), and the neighbor ( Backus ). Ellen must retrieve the letter fearful of being blamed for George's death. A tense drama with a real twist ending!
