Fractal Audio's FX8 takes all of the superb quality drives and effects from its flagship Axe-FX and packages them into one seriously tough pedalboard. There are 8 effect access footswitches with which to access any of the effects and many of the effect types feature X and Y states which means your choice is dramatically increased. You can internally place effects pre or post your amp's front end or effects loop and on the rear you'll find comprehensive control facilities for things like MIDI, expression pedals and relay switches. Stereo? Of course. FAS have also given us FX8-Edit, a quite spectacular OS X and Windows GUI with which to write, share and save your presets.

This video shows the FX8 in perhaps its simplest configuration - as a straight up stomp box. Thanks to the X/Y facility of the effects blocks (indicated by X and Y in the video) I've been able to give myself four different drives, two reverbs, two delays, compressor, rotary, tremolo and wah - everything I'd need for a grab and go pedalboard and then some.
