Iranian artists are giving dead tree trunks in Tehran a new life by turning them into street art objects, as images filmed on Tuesday, May 25 show.

Tehran Municipality launched an art project called "Derakhtestan" (Land of Trees), in which 35 local artists painted, decorated, and carved the trunks of 88 dead banana trees. The initiative is aimed to enhance environmental conscience as well as improve urban visual space.

Valiasr Street in Tehran, the longest tree-lined street in Tehran at 18 km, connects Tajrish Square from the north of the city to the railway square from the south. This street and its plantain trees are one of the most important symbols of Tehran city, and from time to time, the drying of some trees, which occurs over time, causes sensitivity among the people.
