Two-Winged Angel is a Medley and cover of tracks from the Final Fantasy VII universe. It also a musical exploration of five of the main characters of the game (can you guess them?). The orchestration keeps it close to the source materials yet incorporates select elements from the different versions. For example, the Advent Children version introduced a hard rock element. This video for the track features six EQ bars to direct your attention to how Uematsu uses the different sections of the orchestra. When making this track, it was interesting to see how often Uematsu uses the woodwinds, for example, and how much of the soundtrack's iconic sound draws from that section with its members: The flute, clarinet, Oboe, and Bassoon. And while the violins and broader strings section is a cornerstone of most orchestral compositions, Uematsu often doubles them with the woodwinds for a sweeter resulting sound. Notice in the video how often these two bars dance together.

Uematsu's main instrument as a performer, however, is the piano. The piano bar here shows the piano's powerful percussive sound, which launches the first game into its dramatic opening in Bombing Mission.
