Описание к видео MDRNet: Free, Confidential, and Culturally Competent Support for Journalists

In this final segment, Luisa Ortiz Pérez details the concrete services offered by MDRnet (the Media Resilience Network). Aimed at transforming newsroom culture, MDRNet provides communities of practice, trauma-informed one-on-one consultations, and direct newsroom training,. These resources are designed to be "embedded in the fabric of journalism" and are provided completely free of charge and confidentially, thanks to the support of Press Forward,. Discover how to access this systemic support and join a community that understands the unique challenges of the profession.

More than 80% of journalists in the United States have experienced burnout or chronic stress in the past year.
This is not an individual problem — it’s a systemic crisis in journalism.

In 2025, the Media Resilience Network (MDRnet) — an initiative of Vita-Activa, funded by Press Forward — conducted the “Stay Tuned: A U.S. Journalism Mental Health Survey,” gathering responses from journalists across 26 states.

This conversation presents the key findings of the survey and reflects on what needs to change in newsrooms, media ecosystems, and support systems to sustain journalism — and those who make it possible.

🗣 Key finding:
“Affordability is the single greatest barrier to seeking or maintaining care (62%), followed by time constraints (56%) and the lack of culturally competent providers (26%) who understand both the profession and journalists’ lived identities.”

✨ What’s next:
On February 10, 2026, MDRnet will officially launch its journalist support service in the United States, expanding access to confidential, culturally competent, and crisis-informed support for journalists and newsrooms.
We look forward to welcoming journalists, editors, and allies to this new service.
