For fans of the 16 Cyl. EMD 567 prime mover, headphones are recommended.

The long-overdue second installment of the Snowy Switching series finds us in a snowstorm in St. Albans, Vermont. The New England Central Railroad rosters a true Cadillac to switch their Italy yard, EMD SD-9 no. 1750. A fleeting vestige of a yard once full of the sounds of GP-9s and SW1200s, the SD-9 handles long cuts of cars with relative ease despite the conditions and puts on quite the show in the process. Most of the action occurs at the Elm Street crossing, with views of both the throat of the yard and the locomotive servicing facilities adjacent to the former Central Vermont Railway roundhouse. A matching pair of Canadian National GEVO locomotives bring their tri-weekly train M324 south out of Montreal, as seen at Jewett Ave just north of the yard, and again back at Elm Street as the snow intensifies. Former SP SD40T-2 no 3317 greets the Canadian guests as shop crews move the veteran locomotive around the service tracks. We conclude our day with a passing black cat along County Rd in Swanton, just before the now-reorganized M323 slows to a stop to pick up its conductor, and charges north.

I hope you enjoy this long-overdue project. I took a lot of footage in 2022, but life changes hampered my creativity and motivation to edit. Stay tuned for more to come, hopefully in a new style!
