Arno Babajanian (Բաբաջանյան; Babadzhanian, Babadjanian, 1921–1983) was an Armenian composer and pianist, born in Yerevan in 1921. During his youth, he was mentored by his famous compatriot, the composer Aram Khachaturian (1903–1978), whose style greatly influenced Babadjanian’s musical development. Babadjanian was known for his diverse compositional palette. In addition to romantically inspired music, characterized by folk influences and emotional depth, he also composed modern works, including pieces inspired by Arnold Schoenberg’s (1874–1951) twelve-tone technique, which played a significant role in early modern music.

His piece Քանի դեռ հիշում եմ (Поки я пам'ятаю - As Long as I Remember) is an example of his lyrically expressive side. The title suggests a reflection on memory and transience, possibly inspired by personal experiences or universal human feelings of loss and nostalgia. There are no specific indications as to why Babadjanian wrote this piece, but like many of his works, it seems to be shaped by strong emotions. I attempted to play the melody in a warm instrumental or vocal tone.
