Not many of the parts on the old fuselage can be used on the new widebody fuselage, windshield, instrument panel, floorboards all need to be replaced. Some of the parts, like the seats, radios and instruments, will be transferred. Most of the control hardware, pulleys, cables etc, are too affected by years in a salt environment to be reused and will be replaced. Interior paneling can be adapted to use in the wider fuselage or used as patterns. Disassembling the old airframe began as a way to take measurements and make patters for new parts and to asses viability of some of the old parts. The Super Cub parts catalogs don't show part numbers for nuts and bolts, so opening up the airframe allows me to measure those parts to order replacements. Taking out the interior opened up the airframe allowing a good visual inspection more than confirming the rust damage seen through the inspection openings.
