The Department of Employment and Labour has warned that it will crack down on restaurants flouting the law.
This comes after the department conducted a "blitz" inspection at a restaurant in Menlyn, Tshwane.
A former employee lifted the lid on alleged unfair and exploitative labour practices at the establishment.
Authorities have arrested at least three people.
