German Chancellor, Helmut Kohl, attended a memorial mass in the
city of Dresden on Sunday (12/2) on the eve of the 50th anniversary of the World War 2 Allied bombing of the city. Nine crosses formed part of the procession in the Hofkirche catholic church to symbolise the nine European cities destroyed by the war. Dresden's Catholic Bishop, Joachim Reinelt, told the gathering to look beyond the city's suffering to the evil that caused so much pain on all the warring sides.
