Cyber skills are all around you when you know where to look. Like in those who think differently, see things that others miss, and have a natural aptitude for the cyber sector. But missed out or miscategorised by the system, this treasure trove of tech-talent is currently falling through the cracks, when it should really be filling the gaps.

That's what The Gloucestershire Cyber Launchpad (GCL) is all about.
Supported by CyNam, GCL is a collection of responsible, open-minded, and forward-thinking cyber employers who are ready to try something different.

Recognising the hidden talent in the system, GCL employers will offer Cyber Security Degree Apprenticeships to those gifted individuals currently left out — including young people who are neurodivergent and those who would otherwise miss out on higher education opportunities. Talent scouts from University of Gloucestershire will work with schools and communities to identify candidates for these apprentice roles. With your commitment and our matchmaking, you'll have the opportunity to interview and hire uniquely suited candidates who meet your skills requirements and organisational needs.

There is lots of support available to employers who worry about whether they are sufficiently resourced to take on an apprentice. Our dedicated team at University of Gloucestershire can offer expert guidance with the 'paperwork' aspects of an apprenticeship. Moreover, we work in partnership with third parties who offer additional services including advice and pastoral support for learners, troubleshooting, and performance management of apprentices.

Our Cyber Security Degree Apprenticeship was co-developed with the Institute of Coding and has been delivered to world-renowned businesses since 2017. Teaching is delivered over 3 years via block learning. Upon completion, apprentices graduate with a BSc (Hons) in Cyber Security, plus they will be recognised by the Institute of Information Security Professionals at Associate level.

Degree apprenticeships offer a unique advantage — you can tailor the course content to meet your organisational needs. This makes them one of the best solutions to unique, particular and niche skills gaps. Plus, because apprentices are applying their new knowledge in your workplace from day one, they can have an immediate impact on operations and productivity.
