Outside of a private car, You really only have 1 option, head over to Vesuvio Express’s website above and I’d recommend buying the combo transfer + park tickets. They have a lot of mixed reviews but if you buy tickets and show up you will be good.

Then at 930 am Naples time, be in front of Cafeteria Ferraris for your bus.

The Cafe is a nice spot to enjoy a coke, and try a cheese pastry before the hike. The bus leaves the cafe and heads toward Mount Vesuvius National Park.

Reaching Mount Vesuvius brings a completely different atmosphere as the landscape opens up and the hike begins. The trail climbs steadily and rewards with expanding views over the Bay of Naples, the historic cities of Naples, Herculaneum, and Pompeii far below. Smoke can still be seen drifting from the crater, a reminder that this volcano remains active today.

Along the way and near the top, gift shops offer drinks, food, and souvenirs, giving time to chill while taking in the surroundings. The view from the summit makes the effort worthwhile, with the city, sea, and volcanic terrain all visible.

Little History Fact: Mount Vesuvius is the only active volcano on mainland Europe and is most famous for its eruption in 79 AD, which buried the Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum. What makes this especially fascinating is that volcanic ash preserved buildings, streets, and everyday objects so well that visitors from all over the world come see detailed snapshots of daily Roman life nearly two thousand years later.
