The Best Hellraiser Sequel is Not a Hellraiser Sequel

We're peering into the darkness in this week's installment of Sick Flicks as we tackle Steven Kostanski and Jeremy Gillespie's cosmic horror splatterfest, The Void!

Released in 2016, The Void is another Astron-6 production. The Canadian filmmakers pay homage to John Carpenter's The Thing and In The Mouth of Madness, Fulci's The Beyond, and the works of HP Lovecraft in a film that feels like a Hellraiser sequel that never was.

Filled with gory practical effects and some very cool visuals, The Void is a throwback to a simpler, better time. At times creepy, unsettling, unnerving, and always gruesome, this one is a love letter to '80s splatter cinema.
