Скачать или смотреть World Renowned Journalist Terry Lloyd is killed in Iraq by US forces

Terry Lloyd was the journalist who broke the story of Saddam Hussein’s use of chemical weapons against Kurdish civilians in 1988, he was the first foreign journalist into Kosovo during the war there in 1999 and he had once, reportedly, been kicked in the chest by Eric Cantona during an interview.

During the invasion Lloyd and his team were acting as independent journalists, that is not embedded with coalition forces, and were shadowing the invasion forces in two cars as they moved into position around Basra in Southern Iraq

An inquest into his death would determine that Lloyd's two vehicles were caught in a crossfire between US and Iraqi forces.

Lloyd was hit by an Iraqi bullet but the wound was deemed to survivable at his autopsy.

An unarmed minibus stopped at the scene and attempted to evacuate the injured, Lloyd among them, and as it was leaving it came under fire from US forces.

During this second round of shooting Lloyd suffered a fatal wound caused by a US bullet.

The bus seems to have made it out and took Lloyd to a hospital in Basra.

The investigation into his death and the disappearance of two of his colleagues who remain missing to this day, was performed reluctantly and once the British inquest was completed in 2006 it was all kind of swept under the rug without pursuing witness or charges in the US.

Those calling for further investigations and prosecution accuse the US unit involved in Lloyd's death of war crimes for having fired at an unarmed civilian vehicle (the minibus) that was rendering aid to the wounded.
