Located in the heart of the Czech Republic, Prague is a city that captivates with its timeless beauty, rich history, and vibrant culture. In this video, I’ll show you some of the city's highlights, starting with Prague Castle.
The shortest way to reach the Castle on foot is by taking the long staircase from Thunovská Street. This majestic castle, one of the largest in the world, has been the center of Czech power for over a thousand years, offering exceptional views over Prague. Founded around 880, Prague Castle showcases architectural styles from the last millennium. Historically, it was the seat of the Kings of Bohemia, and since 1918, it has been the official residence of the President of the Czech Republic.
In the first courtyard of Prague Castle, in front of the Royal Palace, you can witness the changing of the guard. This ceremony takes place every hour, but the most interesting one is at noon. To watch the video of the changing of the guard, you can click the link above. The castle complex includes palaces, churches, chapels, fortifications, offices, courtyards, and gardens. Walking through its courtyards, you can admire, among other things, St. Vitus Cathedral, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture.
Another must-see is Charles Bridge, one of Prague's most iconic symbols. Built in the 14th century, this pedestrian bridge connects the Old Town with the Malá Strana district. As you cross the bridge, you can admire the baroque statues that adorn it and enjoy breathtaking views of the Vltava River and the surrounding city.
Our next stop is the Old Town Square, the vibrant heart of Prague. Visiting it during the Christmas holidays is a unique experience. Here, you can see the Astronomical Clock, a medieval engineering marvel that draws crowds every hour for its mechanical show.
We can't forget the Jewish Quarter, one of the oldest and best-preserved in Europe. Here, you can visit the Old-New Synagogue, one of the oldest synagogues still in use, and the Jewish Cemetery, with its historic tombstones telling centuries of history.
Finally, we must mention Czech cuisine. Prague offers a variety of restaurants and breweries where you can enjoy traditional dishes like goulash and, of course, the famous Czech beer, considered among the best in the world. Among the street foods to try is the legendary Prague ham.
A magnificent boat trip on the Vltava River with dinner is also a must to see Prague by night from a different perspective. But what I’ve shown you here is just a part of the many things to see and do in Prague.
In conclusion, Prague is a city that offers something for everyone. Whether you are a history enthusiast, an art lover, a foodie, or simply looking for a romantic destination, Prague will welcome you with open arms with its beauty and unique charm.
