After returning to the campsite, Bill fatally shoots Jane’s husband and daughter, then hunts for Jane, who narrowly survives by hiding under a tarp. The police later capture Bill and reveal his motive: revenge over losing the land now owned by Jane’s son-in-law. Jane is the sole survivor, left haunted by guilt and trauma from the massacre.

Though the police find the RV destroyed and no trace of the attacker, the trauma leaves Jane forever changed—haunted by the man's face and more cautious of the hidden dangers on the open road.

A couple seeking a peaceful beach weekend in their RV near Corpus Christi befriends James and Michelle Butler, a warm, retired Navy couple camped nearby. After sharing stories and a campfire, the narrator is awoken at night by strange voices and sees two unknown figures near the Butlers’ RV. The next morning, the Butlers are missing, their RV door ajar and their cats left behind. Later, the narrator spots the same mysterious figures dragging a tarp into a truck. Fearing the worst, they contact authorities. Days later, the Butlers’ bodies are discovered buried in the sand, and the suspects are caught trying to flee to Mexico in the stolen RV. The traumatic event leaves the couple shaken, ending their RV travels and shattering their sense of freedom and safety on the road.
