A Story of Abu Kasim's Shoes : A Sufi Wisdom Tale

Have you ever tried to throw away an old pair of shoes, only for them to come back and ruin your life? This is the Story of Abu Kassem, a rich Baghdad merchant, who could not get rid of his old slippers.

This folktale, popular across the Islamic world, is said to be the origin of the Arabic phrase "Always Remember to Change Your Shoes Often"

An adage with deep resonance in the Sufi Mystical Tradition, and a warning about ego, attachment and the law of cause and effect.

I end the video with a short poem from the Sufi poet Rumi.
