A balanced stance in your bike effects EVERYTHING else. If your stance is off, you will need MUCH more strength and the bike will be much more likely to throw you off! You will be bucked forward in rock gardens, or feel like a passenger in steeps. You will loose confidence in corners and have arm pump or neck aches... Correct the most FUNDAMENTAL Skill = Your stance - and everything else will become easier. Fail to correct it and you will most probably start forming COMPENSATORY habits in most other skills...

In this video I share what you need to UNDERSTAND the balanced stance and anatomically, biomechanically and physically the most efficient riding position - to achieve more control riding your mountain bike. Find out the “why” and “how to” of the groundwork of mountain biking.
This is a breakdown of the fundamental elements belonging to the basic riding position - which I call “Trail Position” or “Trail Mode”. Other names for this are ready position, flow position, attack position, active position, Grundposition, aktivierte Position, Aktivposition, but I have also heard throne position and many others :-)

As a full-time Mtn bike Coach for all levels and and international instructor trainer for the BICP, I have heard that some of these elements are misunderstood and this leads to a lot of confusion and especially causes advanced riders to hit a plateau.

Which is why I wanted to break down all the elements and explain what and why this is anatomically, biomechanically and physically the most efficient riding position.
