A Testament to the Wexford Spud and the Simple Things in Life.

Here is a four minute chat I had with then 72 year old Johnny Dempsey from Blackwater, Co. Wexford on the 29th of June 2019.

This was filmed in a potato field, on the 29th of June, the date associated with digging the ‘new’ potatoes in Co. Wexford.

The clip starts off light hearted as I’d noticed Johnny had invented a device to aid him picking up of the left over potatoes. However it turns and flows lovely and comes around to the values he places on the simple things in life and in particular the humble spud which he weighs up against the food he’s eaten in all kinds of Michelin star restaurants in London.
