In This video I explained how an Economizer works in Screw type Air Cooled Chillers.

An Economizer is used to increase the efficiency of the compressor which is operating when the compressor load is greater than 75%
Moreover in different kind of Chillers (Brand) it can be different depending on configuration.

In This Chiller CARRIER 30XA the configuration is 75% and Economizer expansion valve override is 90 °C when the The discharge pressure temperature will increase (above 90 °C) it will will open automatically.
