Queen Elizabeth's iconic sketch with Paddington Bear, created to commemorate her Platinum Jubilee last June, had to undergo a significant filming change in order to accommodate for the monarch's ill health. Although it was designed to look as though it was taking place at Buckingham Palace, the sketch was actually filmed at Windsor Castle, where the "frail" Queen spent much of her time before her death.

The sketch was broadcast in June, with Her Majesty passing away just three months later on September 8 aged 96.

Actor Simon Farnaby, who appeared as a footman in the film, revealed the real filming location, according to OK! magazine.

The highly praised sketch was given the award for Memorable Moment at the 2023 TV BAFTAs on Sunday night, with Mr Farnaby taking to the stage to accept the prize.

He described the project as a "lovingly handcrafted moment", adding: "She had a very joyful Jubilee tea that day… The person who most deserves this award is no longer with us, we can only accept it on her behalf and say ‘Thank you, ma’am, for everything’.

Ben Whishaw, who voiced the character in the sketch and in the films Paddington and Paddington 2, also appeared on stage at the BAFTAs.

In the short film, the Queen sits across from Paddington as they attempt to enjoy an afternoon tea together, however, it soon descends into chaos thanks to Paddington's clumsiness.

He sprays cream everywhere, including all over the footman, and drinks all the tea straight from the pot before Her Majesty can enjoy a cup.

The bear then asks the Queen if she wanted a marmalade sandwich, before taking his red hat off to take the snack out.

However, in a fun moment, the monarch opened up her handbag to reveal her own stash of marmalade sandwiches.
