The BEST Place to Put Tape on a Cymbal

Описание к видео The BEST Place to Put Tape on a Cymbal

You have ONE strip of gaff tape. Where should you put it? Is there a perfect placement where the tape suddenly causes the cymbal to sound better? Yes…and no. This all depends on what your goal is! Whether you’re wanting to reduce volume, note length, or specific “ringing” frequencies, there are ideal tape placements for each of those goals. That’s what we’re talking about today. We’ll compare 5 different placements and play a guessing game of “where’s the tape?” Later in the video I’ll show you the underside ride camera where you’ll then get to see where each strip was. Tell me which YOU think sounds the best! Do you think there’s an ideal tape placement spot? How much muffling do you like on YOUR cymbals?

(#3 was my favorite! I think a slight bit of muffling actually sounds nice on that cymbal. It reduces the washiness and increases the definition…but not too much.)
