This second grade reading program is perfect for the fluent reader and continued phonics instruction will bring confidence and fluency to the beginning reader. The fluent reader will enjoy the exciting stories in the readers and use them to learn grammar, creative writing, higher-order thinking skills, and much more.

3rd edition changes to Red book include:
Three of the five readers have been replaced. The replacement books offer more practice with phonics. These changes affect 16 of the lessons, therefore, the second edition Student books are NOT compatible with the third edition Parent books and Visa Versa.

LLATL was first written 25 years ago when the daily use of card catalogues, encyclopedia's and phone books were the norm. The new 3rd editions have been updated to reflect changes in the world and society around us. Also, because the books were written by two different authors over the span of four or five years, changes have been made to make the books more consistent and even easier to use.
