Dog finds sheds training but not hunting: Training shed dogs has many aspects to it, and there is a particular sequence we follow when training our shed dogs. We recently received a question about a guy whose dog would pick sheds flawlessly in training, but not in a real hunting scenario. He thought maybe the dog was searching for his scent instead of the antlers, but we feel there is a different issue. The key is to bridge the gap between training and hunting, and by matching your training style to your hunting style, this is done much easier.

When you have a dog that finds sheds training but not hunting, you need to realize that the reason is how you are setting up your training, and that you need to bridge the gap to get the light bulb to click!
