HOPE had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Barak Gaster of the University of Washington to discuss "The Dementia Directive - A Simple Way to Document the Medical Care You Would Want if You Had Dementia."

Barak Gaster M.D. is a UW professor of medicine. He provides primary care to a large panel of adults and is a member of the teaching faculty working with resident physicians in the clinic and in the hospital.

Dr. Gaster earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Chicago and his M.D. from the University of California, San Francisco. He first came to the University of Washington as a resident in internal medicine where he went on to serve as chief resident.

Dr. Gaster's clinical interests include prevention, screening and primary care. He enjoys partnering with patients to explain options for their care and explore ways to keep them healthy.

He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and is board certified in internal medicine. He is a past chairman of the Washington State Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
