AUTM (Association of University Technology Managers) and LES/LESi (Licensing Executive Society—U.S. and International) are organizations that have both US and Foreign members that engage in initial discussions with commercial entities to explore potential R&D efforts to develop viable commercial products/services and/or engage in technology transfer and/or licensing. These discussions typically involve confidential and proprietary information of each entity. Every one is anxious to get started but often the start line can be complicated with NDA terms that just make it difficult to get the green flag to talk. In this regard, both AUTM and LES have begun adopting this template that contains universally acceptable terms to get discussions off the ground sooner rather than later to see if we can start those engines.
