Making Cream Soap Using the Cold Process Method

Описание к видео Making Cream Soap Using the Cold Process Method

This is a tutorial about how to make cream soap using the cold process method. Other than melting the stearic acid and coconut oil, there was no cooking. I was pleased with how well it turned out with minimal work.

The recipe I'm posting is one I found online. (I don't remember where, so I'm sorry I can't give credit to whom it's due.) After I let it sit overnight, it had a pearlescent sheen to it, had a pH of 9 and a luscious lather. I've decided to wait two weeks before super creaming it, if at all.

I added some additives and added 22 ounces of distilled water instead of the suggested 36 ounces.

Here is the basic recipe:
Melt:
18 oz. stearic acid
8 oz. coconut oil
3 oz. olive oil
2 oz. castor oil

1 oz. sodium
hydroxide
5 oz. potassium
hydroxide
22-36 oz. distilled water
Stick blend to emulsify.

Add:
10 oz. glycerin
Stick blend.

To super cream, add:
.93 oz. stearic acid
1.4 oz. glycerin
After the “rot” period and adding additional water, add a preservative (according to the manufacturer’s suggested usage rate). I use Germall Liquid Plus.

The soap calculator had 36 ounces for the amount of distilled water to add—I started with 22 ounces. Whip and then let sit for about 2 weeks. Whip some more and let it sit until it's the consistency you want.

Please post questions, feedback, comments, etc. below and I will get back to you. Thank you for watching and have a great day!
