Do you need a side quest or encounter to distract your players for a Session? Do you like using skeletons, and your players are levels 2-4? Then this will fit the Bill. James Ward made a small one day encounter that includes a way to make sure this doesn't become a multi-session trek for the DM.

Deep in the desert (Forest/Jungle/ Ruins) players find a small squat structure sticking out of the ground, pulsating a sickly green light. Once they delve into it they find the remains of an ancient wizards experiment...... that was so successful, it even ended up claiming him as one of its undying, and everlasting Guardians.

It is missing some bits of story, but any DM worth their salt could mold it into their world.
