This is a Camp Ames Korea Story about the Phrases and Words that we use to say many years ago, when we served with the US Army in Korea. Many of these phrases and words are common to other military bases and others just to Korea. Some were personal phrases said only by certain particular people.

When my group arrived at Camp Ames in December 1968, we had a Word Professor (Roger Jett) who gave us lessons about our new vocabulary. Among them were: Alerts, Village Rats, Kimchi, Yobo, Mockley, Taejeon, Haydock Hill, MSA, etc. Add to these there were common words such as: Short, Home Cooking, Let's go to the village, three hots and a cot, get your hands out of your pockets, you've been eating Kimchi, etc. There were also some phrases and word expressions that were said by particular individuals.

In this video you will see those word expressions that were often heard at Camp Ames Korea about forty five years after they were actually pronounced. Remembering those past events, in a way makes us feel young in mind again. There were of course many more word expressions, but it would require a very long video to cover all of them.
