A way of creating sonic textures and tones that don't sound like conventional guitar music, Atmospheric and Ambient guitar first originated in the early 1970's with guitarists and producers such as Brian Eno, Robert Fripp (famed for his "Frippertronics" delay looping), Daniel Lanois and U2's The Edge, later evolving with guitarists such as Ed O'Brien and Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead.
