(Recorded June 22, 2024)
Last month I went with my mom and a friend to Lancaster, PA to see DANIEL at the Sight & Sound Theatre. I had an amazing time and the show was fantastic. This was my third show to see. My first one was Noah in 2001, Later on, it was Jonah. I was going to see the Jesus show as my third show, but it was canceled because of bad weather conditions. As of now, DANIEL is my third show. This theatre, along with the one in Branson, MO, does performances that bring some of the important stories of the Bible to life on stage, including Creation/Adam and Eve, Noah, Jonah, Esther, Moses, David, Samson, The Birth of Jesus, The Jesus narrative story, and now this one "DANIEL". Sight & Sound was first created in the 1960s by Glenn Eshelman in Lancaster County, PA. It started as a slideshow of Glenn's landscape paintings and photography in 1964 and the first unofficial "Sight & Sound" show became a humble success. In the mid-1970s Glenn and Shirley were taking the show on the road. The show became popular and made its way to a permanent home. In 1976 The Living Waters Theatre opened its doors, and Sight & Sounds Theatres was born. Over time it continued to grow into live theatrical elements and even plans were made to expand to a larger facility across from a cornfield. In 1991, The Entertainment Centre opened to rave reviews. But then tragedy struck...on a January morning in 1997, black smoke filled the sky as fire destroyed the Entertainment Centre. The future was uncertain but Glenn and Shirley did not give up and prayed for the future of Sight & Sound Theatre. Then 18 months later, the construction of a brand new building was completed. The new theatre is a 2,000-seat, state-of-the-art theatre featuring a massive, 300-foot panoramic stage that wrapped around the audience on three sides. When the 2000s came with sell-out crowds, they thought of the idea: What if we expand...? and that's what they did. In 2008 a brand new theatre opened in Branson MO. But this was just the beginning...
Have you been to either Lancaster and/or Branson, MO? If so, how many shows have you seen, and which one(s)?
