Do you know Georgia’s western frontier in 1820 was a creek named Line Creek? Two hundred years ago this area was Creek Indian land. By 1821, it became part of Georgia through a treaty at Indian Springs, and the Creeks were left angry and without their land. Another treaty in 1825 ceded even more land. Even though the Georgia Supreme Court ruled the treaty illegal two years later, there was no hope of regaining it. This is the story of Georgia’s frontier, the Chief McIntosh involvement, and the expansion of the State of Georgia westward...and where was the frontier fort, Fort Troup?

Chief William McIntosh was also a Brigadier General in the United States Army in addition to being a Creek Indian Chief. That’s why I sometimes call him General McIntosh.
