Turks of Western Thrace - Batı Trakya Türkleri

Turks of Western Thrace (Turkish: Batı Trakya Türkleri) are ethnic Turks who live in Western Thrace. Their population is estimated around 150 000 - 200 000.

The Greek government refers to the Turkish community as part of the Muslim minority, and does not recognise a separate Turkish minority in Western Thrace. Nevertheless, the fundamental rights of this community are enshrined in the Greek constitution and the Treaty of Lausanne. The Turks of Western Thrace struggle for the recognition of their Turkish identity. The European court of human rights convicted Greece, for not recognizing the Turks of Western Thrace as Turkish.
