Tip 1 - Research the salary range or your job and industry before you attend the interview. This can be done on websites such as PayScale.con and GlassDoor.com.

Tip 2 - Have a salary in mind that you would be conformable working for. This does not have to be the lowest salary you would work for, but one that you would feel happy to go to work for and give your all.

Tip 3 - If you can give evidence and details in your answer of any previous good work performance, especially where you helped a company increase sales or save money, this will help you to get the salary you want.

Tip 4 - Show the interviewer you understand the salary has to work for them, too. If you show appreciation for their situation, it can help you get a decent salary and it makes the salary negotiation process easier.

Tip 5 - It is OK to go back with a counteroffer if you are not comfortable with the salary that is advertised in the job post. Sometimes, an employer will post a salary range based on experience. If they offer you a salary figure but you think you are worth more, give details as to why you believe you are worth a higher amount.
