A sun arose when the master didn’t rise,
They buried him deep on a lone hillside
Everyone left but Muddy just stayed
Guarding his kin for as long as he laid.

Chasin’ little bunnies and barking’ at squirrels
Fur of white, hocks of brown
Lookin’ like he frolicked in watered-down ground.

Always faithful, Muddy Paws was always near,
Curled against the headstone all through the year
Not rain, not sleet, not snow, not dark,
Could tear Muddy Paws from that lonely mark.

They dug a hole for the pup to rest
A Wise One came and that hole was blessed

To push Muddy up in a second birth
