Great Divide Mountain Bike Route Colorado and New Mexico 2023

Описание к видео Great Divide Mountain Bike Route Colorado and New Mexico 2023

A sublime and challenging bike ride Southbound across one of the longest mountain biking routes in the world, the GDMBR was on my "to do" list after riding across the country solo from Seattle to Boston and documenting that journey in the book "Diary of a Cycle Path". In my book, Diary of a Cycle Path, available on Amazon, I discuss extensively about the people I met and the geologic, hydrologic, and geographical features I enjoyed while cycling across the US. Filled with humor, triumph and the heartbreak faced along the way, the book is an enjoyable read as I reflectively navigate the reader through the splendor and stunning geography of the United States seen from the seat of a bicycle.

The Great Divide Mountain Bike Route is a predominantly off-pavement cycling route, crisscrossing the Continental Divide. The entire route is basically dirt road and mountain-pass riding every day, although Colorado and New Mexico had small sections of paved riding between mountain ranges. I started my solo unsupported tour during the last week in June at the Canadian border in Roosville Montana and averaged 67 miles per day to the end in New Mexico.

This video is the third of three videos of my 2023 GDMBR journey. This video documents the route from approximately Rawlins Wyoming to Abiquiu New Mexico. After getting run off the road by a pickup truck between Clark and Steamboat Springs, I suffered a severe chest injury that greatly slowed my progress. Tapping out in the heat and dryness of Abiquiu New Mexico, I was rescued by Jolene Croasmun, my love and partner, who also dropped me off at the Canadian Border. The entire journey was 34 days of incredible but challenging riding and making new experiences and friends along the way.
