LIVE: Hezbollah radio devices explode in Beirut

More than 1,000 people have been injured in Lebanon after radio communication devices used by members of Hezbollah exploded in what has been described as the militia group’s “biggest security breach” yet.

Suspicion immediately fell on an Israeli intelligence operation that could have penetrated the Iranian-backed group, which has been conducting almost daily cross-border attacks on Israel since the war in Gaza broke out in October.

The explosions appear to have hit Hezbollah operatives across Beirut. Footage captured on cell phones showed groaning and wounded men being helped from cars or writhing on the streets after the blasts that left them bloodied. One man who sat on a scooter was pictured leaning on a car, his torso ripped by an explosion.
